2 rue Gillaque 82000 Montauban
Number 2, rue Gillaque is an 18th-century building that has retained some splendid older features, notably a 15th-century turret and a gallery dating from the 17th-century.
Many Montauban locals know it for the enigmatic head that decorates one if its corners and seems to be shouting. Some of the older residents remember it as « Le toulousain », a fashionable hotel-restaurant during the 1950’s that closed at the end of the 80’s.
The City of Montauban as part of its project to renovate the historic center, has launched a joint public and private initiative to restore the facade and the courtyard of the building. And so, Number 2, rue Gillaque is reborn today ! The City has held on to the ground floor space, named it ‘Shouter’s House’ and opened its doors to the public.
Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11.00 am to 6.00 pm.
